General Opening Title Conventions

In a films opening title we can expect to see the director, producer and main stars of the film be mentioned generally at the beginning or the end of titles. They will often be in bold and larger than the rest of the credits.

The titles will often be in the foreground while an event or montage takes place in the background and is often accompanied by a soundtrack which will also be credited along with the composer.

The title of the film will most likely appear on it’s own, if the film originates from a novel the original author may be present when the title of the film is shown/

Transitions may be used when changing between titles however it is variable to what the director feels is best suited to the titles.

The font or typeface of the titles may tie-in with the genre of the film, so a horror film may have the titles in red font which may imitate blood stains or footprints to get across the genre and create a sense of fear.
