Music
The music for our film was a particularly difficult decision to make and the process gave us great difficulty with problems with copyright and the mood in which the film created.
We initially used a piece of music called 'Sinnerman' by 'Nina Simone' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn5tiuZU4JI). We received very positive feedback from our focus group, who said that it fitted the fast-paced and quick atmosphere of the chase perfectly and fitted in well with the original name of the film, 'Runnerman'. However, due to copyright issues, we were unable to use this piece of music, meaning we had to begin a search for a new piece and start the process all over again to find appropriate music.
However, as our storyline changed and developed with improvements and feedback from our focus group, the pace and mood of our film changed, along with genre aspects. Our film had now developed into a social-realist drama with elements of documentary incorporated, meaning we would now have to find music which fitted to this particular style, thus being very different to our original piece. The music that we used in our film is called 'Despair and Triumph' by 'Kevin Macleod' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI24XkeyYUs). We have chosen to use this piece as we felt it reflected the depressing and reflective mood of the opening sequence, but also fitted into the particular crime genre. The piece is very slow in parts, but in contrast speeds up during moments of Trey running away.
